Are You Sure You Want Freedom?

Because freedom will destroy you.

You and I find ourselves deceived,
day after day culture and society demands we chase freedom.

Freedom to live our lives as we see fit.
Freedom to act upon our urges as they bubble up.
Freedom to chase “happiness “—
a term that you and I can not even define.

This universe is not free,
this universe is Governed.

Not by man, as much as he may try, —
but by the Lord.

And yes, we are free to destroy our souls in innumerable ways — and in fact, we are even encouraged to do so.

Just as we are free to choose a moral and just existence.

Happiness can be achieved by hedonism, and discontentment can be cured with a larger wad of cash, and depression can be cured by the bottle or giving into countless other urges.

That is the message the devil pronounces over loud speakers from across the border of darkness.

Shouldn’t we want to be happy?
And shouldn’t we want to be free?
An entire nation founded on the idea of pursuing happiness.

But . . .

Freedom is not the ability to find happiness,
freedom is the ability to destroy your life.

Happiness is found in surrendering your life to the King of Creation —
Contentment is found in conquering your physical and mental urges —
Joy is found in helping others, not sacrificing them for personal gain —

and though harm and hurt is guaranteed for us all
(trust me, I am an expert on this matter),

Comfort is given to all those who seek Him.

My God demands I hold myself to a higher standard than yesterday,
and my God demands I commit myself to the rule of His Law.

His Law says I shall conquer lust, and pride, and false idols, I shall take rest, I shall genuinely love all those made in the image of God, I shall ask for and accept the forgiveness found in Jesus,

I shall live a life subject to the King. . .

and though you may no longer be free,
YOU WILL BE FREE.

Attempting to secure freedom is demanding to be led astray.
But the Law of the Lord far outweighs the suggestions of satan.
